It’s me Pianist Keunyoung Song again. Today I want to review Spectrasonics Keyscape “Creative” which is an upgrade version of Keyscape. If you own Omnisphere 2, you may have more benefit when you upgrade.

Some big features are as follows;

1. Added “Keyscape Creative Library”- Around 1,200 sound presets
2. YAMAHA C7 LA Custom CPU optimization
3. Added “TWEAK” tap in YAMAHA C7

For the sample, I used the preset “LA Custom C7 - Softest” and I didn’t maneuver any knobs in the setting. The 1st song is my own song "Apple of my eye" from my 2nd piano album and the 2nd song is "I'm happy just because of you" from my 1st piano album "Dear my daughter"

Back to the review again. Before the upgrade, there were always few freezes in live performances in YAMAHA C7 presets due to high CPU usage. But from Keyscape Creative, you may not see the freezes that often as before. Still, the CPU usage is high when playing the C7, but I can surely say that it is pretty much optimized after the upgrade. If you are a heavy C7 user, upgrade to the Keyscape Creative is a must. I guess Spectrasonics had had lots of complaints regarding the CPU usage after their 1st release. But now they fixed it! Hurray!

FYI, My PC specs are as follows;

1.PC : Lenovo G50 / Windows 10 64bit / i5-5200U 2,20 GHz, 12GB RAM, 256GB SSD
2.Controller & Audio interface : YAMAHA MOX8
3.DAW : Cubase AI 8

Back to the sound again. It is needless to say. It sounds just full, deep and warm at the same time. In the high notes, the warmness and the body sound still sustain until you take off your fingers from the keys. And especially, this preset has longer release than other presets so that I often use this preset when I practice.

 Apart from CPU optimization, another feature of the Keyscape Creative is this. They added “Keyscape Creative Library” category which you can see below. There are tens of thousands of sounds mixed with Omnisphere 2. If you are a synth lover, go upgrade it now.

And the last feature of this upgrade is that they added “Character” button and “TWEAK” tab so that there are more possibilities in the sound tweak for C7 piano.

음색깡패, Keyscape 피아노 가상악기 리뷰/추천

또다시 피아노 가상악기 리뷰로 찾아온 피아니스트 송근영 입니다. 지난번에 Keyscape(키스케이프) 리뷰를 올려드렸었는데 업데이트 전 구형 Keyscape 리뷰였고 이번에 리뷰는 새롭게 업데이트 된 Keyscape Creative에 대한 리뷰입니다. 이번 Keyscape Creative의 업데이트는 옴니스피어2 사용자에게는 더 혜택이 많은 업데이트네요.

가장 큰 특징은 ;
1. Keyscape Creative Library 추가 : 1200여개 음색 (사실 잘 안 씁니다 ㅎㅎ)
2. 고질적인 문제였던 C7 피아노 사용시 CPU 점유율 최적화 (야호! 이 업데이트를 가장 바래왔습니다 ㅎㅎ)
3. C7 피아노에 "TWEAK" 탭 추가

첫번재 첨부된 샘플 영상은 Keyscape Creative로 직접 녹음한 영상이며, 제 2집 앨범인 "You are special"의 수록곡 중 하나인 "Apple of my eye"고요, 새근새근 세상 모르고 곤히 잠들어 있는 예쁜 딸을 바라보면서 써내려간 곡입니다.

두번째 샘플 영상은 제 1집 앨범 "Dear my daughter"의 수록곡 중 하나인 "난 정말 행복합니다." 입니다. 둘 다 Keyscape Creative 라이브러리에서 "Softest" 프리셋을 사용을 하였습니다. 프리셋에서 어떠한 노브도 건드리지 않은 그대로의 사운드 입니다.

업데이트 전에는 중간에 CPU 점유율이 100%가 되면서 끊김이 많아서 대신 다른 가상악기를 사용하여 먼저 연주를 하고 후에 악기를 바꿔서 Export 하였습니다. 하지만 이번 업데이트 이후로 전과 같은 일이 없어졌네요. 아무래도 Specatrasonics에서 C7 피아노 사용과 관련해서 이런 저런 컴플레인을 많이 받았던 것 같습니다.

참고로 제 PC 사양은 Windows 10 64bit, i5-5200U 2.20GHz, 램 12GB, 256 SSD이고 오디오 인터페이스는 YAMAHA MOX8 자체 내장 인터페이스를 사용하였고 시퀀서는 Cubase 8 AI 입니다.

좀 더 정확한 리뷰를 위해서 "LA Custom C7 - Softest" 프리셋을 사용했으며 어느 노브 하나 건드리지 않았습니다. 저도 많은 가상악기 리뷰를 봐왔지만 디폴트 세팅이나 기본적으로 제공하는 프리셋으로 듣지 않으면 소리가 많이 왜곡되어 들리는 경우가 많아 항상 디폴트 세팅이나 기본 프리셋만을 사용하여 가상악기 리뷰를 쓰는 편입니다.

역시나 Keyscape는 음색깡패 끝판보스네요. 기본적으로 울림이 워낙 뛰어나고 고음으로 갈수록 바디감 있는 소리가 전혀 반감되지 않고 끝까지 살아 있어서 저는 이 악기를 정말 좋아합니다. 또한 제가 위에 소개드린 프리셋을 좋아하는 이유가 릴리즈가 길어서 주로 느린 뉴에이지 곡을 연주하는 저에게 있어서는 이것만큼 좋은 세팅이 없네요.

아래 사진은 키스케이프 실행화면이며 왼쪽 상단을 보시면 "Keyscape Creative"라는 카테고리가 추가된 것을 보실 수가 있습니다.
또한 "MAIN" 탭에 이전에는 없던 "CHARACTRER"부분이 추가되서 다양한 음색 조정이 가능하네요. 당연한 얘기겠지만 Pure쪽으로 올라갈 수록 좀 더 밝은 소리가 납니다.

아래 사진은 C7 피아노 음색을 선택했을 때 "TWEAK"탭이 나타난 사진입니다. 좀 더 세밀한 컨트롤이 가능하게 되어 정말 좋습니다. ^^ (특징 3) 이 탭에서 Attack(어택)도 조정이 가능하게 해놓았네요.
